We frequently hear the argument of “quality over quantity” – but is that really true? Is the quality of something actually more important than the quantity? Is it better to have more of something that isn’t quite the quality of product/service of a competing product that is in all likelihood more expensive, but is far superior? Let’s look at some examples of some scenarios in which quality is more important than quantity, and vice versa. Where does CBD fall in this spectrum?

Money: It’d be hard to find somebody that would argue less money is better because it’s a better quality money. Money is pretty much all the same. Certain currencies are worth more than others, but when converted to the same currency, most people would want more – as the quality is not something that generally matters to people. Some bills may be ripped, and others may not, but it’s still worth the same amount, assuming the denominations are the same. In this case, quantity wins.

Food: I think most people would agree that quality food is more important than the quantity of food. Meals that are filled with nutrients, vitamins, protein, healthy carbs, and healthy fat will not only be more filling than meals that are not well balanced, but it is also incredibly better for your body. “Your body is a temple” is a common phrase used by a lot of food advocates pushing healthy foods.

Technology: This probably depends on what aspect you are looking at. People generally want more technology – but again, most people would agree that quality technology is more important than a lot of bad technology. Most people prefer a quality smart phone (despite it costing more) than lower end smart phones. Cheap end laptops will fulfill your needs, but most only last for a year or two. On the other hand, if you buy a name brand laptop, they will generally last you several years.

CBD: So, what is more important with CBD? There are differing opinions all over the world on this. The answer to this probably isn’t as straight forward as most think. Certain situations demand higher doses of CBD than others. Certain companies pride themselves on quality products with lower potency levels, and a lot of people respond better to those than other brands with an exponentially higher level of milligrams per dose.

Some people require 100mg’s a day of one brand, and only 10mg’s a day of a different brand to achieve the same result. At That’s Natural, we believe that this is because of the quality and purity of the product. A lot goes into determining the quality and purity of a product.

A full-spectrum product may only have 10mg’s per “dose”, but contains not only CBD but dozens of other cannabinoids and terpenes. The combination of these cannabinoids and terpenes is what’s known as the “entourage effect”.

Additionally, the purity and transparency of a product generally means a higher quality. This can often be determined by third party lab tests of purity (certificate of analysis) which would show what, if any, contaminants are in the product. Additionally, finding a company that shows their potency tests is also important. These tests would show what cannabinoids and terpenes are present in the products.

Where is it grown? This may not seem like a big deal to some, but where plants are grown can play a big part determining both the quality and purity of a CBD product. Hemp plants are notorious for not only pulling water from the soil, but also any contaminants that are present as well. Farmers often swap hemp out in place of beans, corn, etc… to purify their soil. These contaminants then become part of the hemp plant that can then be made into oils that you consume! Make sure your company knows their farmer, and you know where it’s coming from.

The extraction method that is used for CBD products is also very important. Many companies can use solvents such as alcohol, butane, ethanol, or propane to extract the helpful compounds within the hemp plant. Solvent extraction methods use heat to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes. There is one major problem with this: heat. Heat is what breaks down cannabinoids and terpenes, ruining the quality and purity of the product. Olive oil extractions have also been growing among CBD companies. This is a fairly similar method to the solvent extraction process, being that heat is what causes the extraction to occur.

Supercritical C02 extraction method is a high pressure, but low heat extraction method. It preserves the cannabinoids and terpenes within the plant. The problem with this method is how expensive it is, and the fact that it normally demands a professional chemist to do it. Again, quality often costs more money than less premiere products.

Here at That’s Natural, we seek the highest quality and most pure products on the market. We do believe that quality matters – especially in-regards-to what you are putting in and on your body. In our eyes, the most important gift every person has is life – and our goal is to give life to those in need. Before trying CBD, remember to check where it’s grown, what the lab tests show, what extraction method is used, and whether it is a full-spectrum product.
