The Endocannabinoid System (or ECS for short) is responsible for modulating our body’s immune system, inflammation, pain, and things that affect our daily life, like sleep, appetite, and mood.
The discovery of this system showed that most mammals have a vast network of receptors that are responsive to cannabinoids - these receptors are in the brain, central nervous system, and immune system.
Receptors on our cells act like tiny locks on the surface of the cells (not all cells have all receptors and there are thousands of receptors on each tiny cell). These receptors only open for certain keys that fit into them - even more than a ‘physical’ fit - it is like a vibrational understanding between the neurotransmitter (and/or neuropeptide) that allows certain chemical compounds to communicate with the receptors.
Our body already makes something called ‘endocannbinoids’ inside of us. Endocannabinoids are our body’s own compound that helps us regulate our Endocannabinoid System. By introducing non-psychoactive cannabinoids to our body - like CBD, CBDa, CBN, CBG, and CBC - we can potentially regulate our Endocannabinoid System and prevent endocannabinoid deficiency.
